Thomas A. Fanning , Director since 2015.

Mr. Fanning has been with Southern Company, one of America's largest energy companies, for over 30 years and has served as its Chairman, President and CEO since 2010. In that role, Mr. Fanning has guided Southern Company’s leadership in developing a full portfolio of energy resources and has strengthened the company’s culture of innovation and customer focus. Active as a leader in the business arena, Mr. Fanning serves as Chair of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and as Chairman of the Electric Subsector Coordinating Council, which serves as the principal liaison between the federal government and the electric power sector to protect the electric grid from threats that could impact national security. He also is Vice Chairman of the Edison Electric Institute and a member of the Business Roundtable.

J. Thomas Hill ,

Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer

Director since 2014.

Tom Hill was elected chairman of the board for Vulcan Materials Company in December 2015, and president and chief executive officer in July 2014. Mr. Hill has been with Vulcan for more than 25 years, serving in a variety of operations and general management assignments of increasing responsibility since first joining the Company in 1979. Prior to being named CEO, Mr. Hill was executive vice president and chief operating officer for the Company, having previously served as senior vice president of Vulcan's South Region. Mr. Hill has also served as president of Vulcan's former Florida Rock Division, as well as the Company's Southwest Division. Mr. Hill worked for Redlands Stone Products from 1990 to 1996 in sales and operations management, before rejoining Vulcan as vice president and general manager of the Company's Southwest Division. Mr. Hill is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and the Wharton School of Business, Executive Management Program.

Cynthia L. Hostetler , Director since 2014.

Ms. Hostetler currently serves on the board of directors and as a trustee for multiple mutual funds managed by Aberdeen Asset Management, an international investment advisor with over $540 billion under management. She is also a member of the board of TriLinc Global Fund. Previously from 2001 to 2009, Ms. Hostetler served as Head of Investment Funds and Private Equity at the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC). She also served on the Board of Directors of Edgen Group, a global energy infrastructure company, prior to its acquisition by Sumitomo. Additionally, she has served as President and a member of the Board of Directors of First Manhattan Bancorporation, a bank holding company in the Midwest. She began her career as a corporate lawyer with Simpson Thacher & Bartlett in New York.

John R. McPherson , Executive Vice President, Chief Financial and Strategy Officer

John McPherson is executive vice president, chief financial and strategy officer for Vulcan Materials Company. Mr. McPherson joined Vulcan in 2011 as senior vice president for strategy and business development, and has been involved with the Company professionally since 2009. During 2013, he served as senior vice president of the East Region until his promotion to executive vice president and chief financial officer. Prior to joining Vulcan, Mr. McPherson was the managing partner of the Dallas office of McKinsey & Company, a global management consulting firm. Mr. McPherson also spent several years as an investment banker with Goldman Sachs & Co. Mr. McPherson is a graduate of Stanford University where he earned both B.S. and M.B.A. degrees.

Stanley G. Bass , Chief Growth Officer

Stan Bass is chief growth officer for Vulcan Materials Company. Mr. Bass has served in a variety of operations and general management assignments since first joining the Company in 1996. Prior to his current position, Mr. Bass was senior vice president of the West Region. He has also served as senior vice president of the Central Region and president of the Midsouth and Southwest Divisions.

Mr. Bass graduated from Virginia Military Institute with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.  He also attended the Wharton School of Business Advanced Management Program.

Mr. Bass serves on the board of the National Asphalt Pavement Association.

Michael R. Mills , Chief Administrative Officer

Michael Mills is chief administrative officer for Vulcan Materials Company. He previously served as senior vice president and general counsel. Mr. Mills also served in regional management roles as senior vice president of the East Region, president of the Southeast Division and vice president and general manager of Middle/West Tennessee and Kentucky. Mr. Mills joined Vulcan’s Legal Department in 1991 and was associate general counsel at the time he moved into regional management.

He is a graduate of Harvard University, the University of Alabama School of Law, and Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

Thompson S. Baker II , Senior Vice President

Tom Baker is senior vice president for Vulcan Materials Company, with senior corporate management responsibility for the Mideast, Southeast, Southwest and Southern & Gulf Coast Divisions.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Baker was president and chief executive officer of Patriot Transportation Holding, Inc. and Florida Rock Properties. Mr. Baker also served as president of Vulcan’s Florida Rock Division from 2008 to 2010. Prior to that, Mr. Baker spent 24 years in various leadership capacities at Florida Rock Industries, Inc., before its acquisition by Vulcan in 2007.
Mr. Baker is a graduate of Davidson College with a Bachelor of Science degree in History.

Jerry F. Perkins Jr. , General Counsel and Secretary

Jerry Perkins is general counsel and secretary for Vulcan Materials Company. Mr. Perkins previously served as assistant general counsel and secretary. Before joining Vulcan in 2002, Mr. Perkins worked as a certified public accountant (CPA) at a global accounting firm and was an attorney with Burr & Forman LLP in Birmingham, Alabama.

Mr. Perkins has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Alabama and received a law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law, where he was a senior editor of the Alabama Law Review.

Mr. Perkins serves on the board of directors of the Birmingham YMCA.

Ejaz A. Khan , Vice President, Controller and Chief Information Officer

Ejaz Khan is the vice president, controller, and chief information officer of Vulcan Materials Company. Beginning in 1979 as a personnel systems specialist, Mr. Khan has held a number of positions in several of the Company’s divisions during his thirty years with Vulcan.

Mr. Khan has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a master’s degree from Wharton School of Business.

James R. Averitt , Vice President, Risk Management

Jim Averitt is Vice President of Risk Management for Vulcan Materials Company. Mr. Averitt joined Vulcan in 1984 and has served in a variety of Risk Management positions of increasing responsibility.

Mr. Averitt earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from The University of Montevallo. He has also achieved the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation from the American Institute for Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters.

Mr. Averitt has served as an officer of the Alabama Chapter of the Risk and Insurance Management Society, and is a member of the Alabama Chapter of CPCU. Mr. Averitt also serves on the Marsh Client Advisory Council. He has formerly served as Chairman of the Product Liability Committee of the Halogenated Solvents Industry Alliance, on the Tort Litigation Group of the Chemical Manufacturers Association, and the FM Global Risk Management Executive Council.

C. Wes Burton, Jr. , Vice President and Treasurer

Wes Burton joined Vulcan Materials Company in May 2011 as vice president and treasurer. Prior to joining Vulcan, Mr. Burton was most recently a management consultant with the Enterprise Performance Management Strategy practice group of Accenture LLP, managing director for Marsh USA, Inc. and senior vice president and treasurer at Saks Incorporated.

Mr. Burton began his career with fourteen years of corporate finance experience at two different banks, covering the building products, business services, and retail industry sectors. Mr. Burton earned a B.S. degree in management (business/finance) from Georgia Tech.

Mary Andrews Carlisle , Vice President, Business Development

Ms. Carlisle serves as the vice president of business development. Ms. Carlisle joined Vulcan in May 2006. Ms. Carlisle has held various leadership roles within the Company’s accounting and finance departments. In her most recent role, she served as vice president of finance for the Southern and Gulf Coast Division. Ms. Carlisle earned her MBA from the University of Alabama. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Spanish from the University of Virginia.

David A. Donaldson , Vice President, External Affairs and Corporate Communications

David Donaldson is vice president of external affairs and corporate communications for Vulcan Materials Company. Mr. Donaldson joined Vulcan in 1980 and has served in a variety of public and governmental affairs roles for the company, including service in its former Chemicals Division. He is responsible for the community, governmental and regulatory affairs of the corporation, its corporate communications initiatives, as well as the company’s charitable giving and political action committee programs. Mr. Donaldson is a graduate of the University of the South, with a bachelor’s degree in English Literature and a master’s degree in Public and Private Management from Birmingham-Southern College. Mr. Donaldson serves on the boards of the Wildlife Habitat Council, The Road Information Program (TRIP), the Public Affairs Research Council of Alabama, the Alabama Governor’s School Board of Advisors, the Blackburn Institute, University of Alabama, and Teach For America, Alabama Chapter. He is a graduate of Leadership Birmingham, where he served as president of the Members’ Council, and of Leadership Alabama.

Kevin T. Halcomb , Vice President, Tax

Kevin Halcomb is vice ​president of tax for Vulcan Materials Company. Since joining Vulcan in 2009, Mr. Halcomb has served in several tax positions of increasing responsibility. Prior to joining Vulcan, ​he spent the first ten years of his career as a consultant in Ernst & Young’s business tax services practice.

Mr. Halcomb is a graduate of the University of Alabama where he earned a bachelor's degree in accounting and a master's degree in tax accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant.

Norman Jetmundsen, Jr. , Vice President and Associate General Counsel

Norman Jetmundsen is the Vice President and Associate General Counsel of Vulcan Materials Company. Mr. Jetmundsen joined Vulcan after a twenty-year career with Bradley, Arant, Rose & White, where he was a partner.

Mr. Jetmundsen earned his undergraduate degree in English literature from the University of the South and has a law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law. He also completed a M. Litt. degree at Magdalen College, Oxford.

Mr. Jetmundsen is a member of the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA), and he serves on the Council of Counsel, as well as the Legal Task Force. He is also a member of the Alabama and American Bar Associations, the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association (ADLA), Defense Research Institute (DRI), International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC), and the Product Liability Advisory Counsel (PLAC).

Charles D. Lockhart , Vice President, Compensation and Benefits

Charley Lockhart is vice president of compensation and benefits for Vulcan Materials Company with responsibility for administration of the executive compensation, retirement and health and welfare programs of the Company. Mr. Lockhart rejoined Vulcan in 1985 as benefits manager after serving as vice president in the trust division of a large regional bank. Mr. Lockhart had previously served in the Vulcan corporate employee benefits office from 1979 to 1982.

Mr. Lockhart holds a B.S. Degree in Finance from the University of Alabama, an M.B.A. from Samford University and is a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (C.E.B.S.). He is a member of the International Society of Certified Employee Benefits Specialists, the Southern Employee Benefits Conference, and the Alabama Compensation Association.

Larry W. Miller , Vice President, Human Resources

Larry Miller serves as the vice president of human resources in the construction materials group. Mr. Miller joined Vulcan in 2000 after twenty years in various human resource roles with Burlington Industries. Beginning as director of human resources and administration for the Company’s Mideast Division, Mr. Miller became the vice president of human resources and administration for the Mideast Division in 2008. In 2010 he became vice president of human resources for the Florida Rock Division, before assuming his current role in 2012.

Mr. Miller holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business from Appalachian State University.

L. Todd Vencil , Vice President, Business Development

Mr. Vencil serves as the vice president of business development. Mr. Vencil joined Vulcan in July 2016. Mr. Vencil previously worked as the managing director, equity research with Sterne Agee and Leach/Sterne Agee CRT in Richmond, Virginia, where he followed companies in a variety of industries, including construction materials and building products. Mr. Vencil earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Virginia with a dual major in Philosophy and English Literature, and is a CFA charterholder.

Scott L. McCaleb , President, Vulcan Lands, Inc.

Scott McCaleb is president of Vulcan Lands, Inc. for Vulcan Materials Company. He began his career with Florida Rock Industries, Inc. in 1994 as president of Arundel Corporation Division in Baltimore, Maryland. In 1997, Mr. McCaleb became the president of Georgia Division in Atlanta, Georgia and he also served as vice president of corporate development. In 2014, he was promoted to the president of Vulcan Lands. Prior to joining Vulcan, Mr. McCaleb gained experience in real estate development, acquisition planning, investment management and finance as president and owner of McCaleb Investments Inc. located in Jacksonville, Florida. Mr. McCaleb currently serves as chairman of Jacksonville Transportation Authority, trustee and past chairman of the Gator Bowl Association, and board member of the University of North Florida Foundation.

Mr. McCaleb earned his B.S. in Finance and Real Estate from Florida State University.

Lindsay L. Sinor , Assistant General Counsel and Vice President, Vulcan Lands

Lindsay Sinor is assistant general counsel for Vulcan Materials Company and vice president of Vulcan Lands. Prior to joining Vulcan in 1992, Ms. Sinor was an attorney with Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP in Birmingham, Alabama.

Ms. Sinor has a bachelor’s degree in art history from Hollins College in Roanoke, Virginia and she received her law degree from Fordham University School of Law in New York, New York.

Ms. Sinor is a co-founder of Vulcan’s Women’s Leadership Council and now serves on the Steering Committee for the Vulcan Women’s Network.

Jason P. Teter , Vice President, Finance

Jason Teter is vice president of finance for Vulcan Materials Company. Mr. Teter joined Vulcan in 2013 as vice president of business development. Prior to his current position, Mr. Teter was president of the Southern and Gulf Coast Division. Before joining Vulcan, he spent ten years in various finance, business development and general management positions with Lafarge North America.

Mr. Teter has an Executive MBA from Georgetown University and a bachelor of science degree in Accounting from the University of Colorado at Boulder.


Construction Materials Officers

Christina M. Alvord , President, Southern & Gulf Coast Division

Ms. Alvord serves as the vice president of corporate planning and performance improvement. Ms. Alvord joined Vulcan in August 2016. Prior to joining Vulcan, Ms. Alvord held various executive management positions across the United States at GE Aviation, including president of both GE Aviation-Unison Industries and GE Aviation-Middle River Aircraft Systems. She most recently served as general manager, engine component repair and general manager, turbine airfoils center of excellence in Cincinnati, Ohio. Ms. Alvord earned her MBA from Harvard University. She has Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Sean Hawley is vice president of financial planning, analysis and reporting for Vulcan Materials Company. Mr. Hawley joined Vulcan in 2014 after a ten year career with Lafarge, where he most recently served as the vice president and general manager of Midwest Aggregates. Before joining Lafarge, Mr. Hawley worked as a financial and asset manager for Clark Enterprises and audit manager for Arthur Andersen. Mr. Hawley has served as a board member to the National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association, the Illinois Association of Aggregate Producers, and the Broomfield, Colorado Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Hawley graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics and Business Management. He is a Certified Public Accountant.

Janet F. Kavinoky , Vice President, Federal & State Governmental Relations

Janet Kavinoky is vice president, federal & state governmental affairs of Vulcan Materials Company. Ms. Kavinoky joined Vulcan in September 2015 as director of federal and state governmental affairs. Prior to joining Vulcan, Ms. Kavinoky was executive director for transportation & infrastructure at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce where she led transportation policy and lobbying efforts, ran Americans for Transportation Mobility, and developed the Let’s Rebuild America initiative to raise the profile of infrastructure issues. She was honored by the Journal of Commerce as one of the 10 “most influential people in transportation” in 2010. Ms. Kavinoky began her career at the U.S. Department of Transportation ultimately serving as a special assistant to the Secretary of Transportation. Ms. Kavinoky earned her bachelor’s degree in Political Economy from the University of Wyoming and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
