Donald M. James , Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

Don James has been the chief executive officer of Vulcan Materials Company since 1996 and chairman since 1997. In his tenure with the Company, Mr. James has also served as the senior vice president of the South Region and as president of the Southern Division. He was originally hired as Vulcan’s senior vice president and general counsel.

Mr. James joined Vulcan in 1992 after a long and successful career with Bradley, Arant, Rose & White, where he was a partner and a member of the Executive Committee.

Mr. James holds a bachelor’s degree and an M.B.A. from the University of Alabama. After serving as a first lieutenant in the United States Army, Mr. James earned a J.D. at the University of Virginia School of Law where he was the executive editor of Law Review and a member of the Order of the Coif.

Mr. James is active in a number of business, civic, and industry organizations. He currently serves as a director on the boards of Southern Company and Wells Fargo & Company. In 2006 he served as chairman of the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA).

Mr. James is also a director for the Birmingham Business Alliance, Birmingham Museum of Art, Boy Scouts of Central Alabama, United States Chamber of Commerce, UAB Health System, the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama, the University of Alabama Health Services Foundation, and the Independent Presbyterian Church Foundation. He serves as a trustee for Birmingham-Southern College, Children’s Hospital, and the Hugh Kaul Foundation, and is a member of the University of Alabama President’s Cabinet and of the Business Advisory Council.

Daniel F. Sansone , Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer

Dan Sansone is the chief financial officer of Vulcan Materials Company and has been in that role since 2005. Mr. Sansone is also responsible for the marketing support services department and oversight of the business development and strategic planning functions.

Mr. Sansone joined Vulcan in 1988 and was the controller and then vice president of finance before becoming president of what is today known as the Southern & Gulf Coast Division in 1997. Prior to joining Vulcan, Mr. Sansone held several management positions, domestically and internationally, with FMC Corporation and Tenneco Automotive.

Mr. Sansone earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from John Carroll University and an M.B.A. from the Illinois Institute of Technology.

Active in several community organizations, Mr. Sansone serves as Chair of the board for St. Vincent’s Health System and is a director for Innovation Depot, Vulcan Park and Museum, and Holy Family Cristo Rey High School. He is a graduate of both Leadership Birmingham and Leadership Alabama.

Danny R. Shepherd , Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

Danny Shepherd is executive vice president and chief operating officer -- with responsibility for all of the Company’s operating regions and the Corporate Construction Materials functions that support region operations. Prior to his current position, Mr. Shepherd served as executive vice president, construction materials. Mr. Shepherd rejoined Vulcan in 2002 as president of Vulcan's Southeast Division after serving in executive positions with Global Stone Corporation and Oglebay Norton. Prior to his positions with Global Stone and Oglebay Norton, Mr. Shepherd served as vice president and general manager, Georgia for Vulcan's Southeast Division. Mr. Shepherd is a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Michael R. Mills , Senior Vice President and General Counsel

Michael R. Mills was elected Senior Vice President and General Counsel on November 1, 2012. He previously served from 2002-2012 in regional management roles as Senior Vice President – East Region, President of the former Southeast Division and Vice President and General Manager for Middle/West TN and KY. Michael joined Vulcan’s Legal Department in 1991 and was Associate General Counsel at the time he moved into regional management.

He is a graduate of Harvard University, the University of Alabama School of Law, and Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

J. Wayne Houston , Senior Vice President-Human Resources

Wayne Houston is the senior vice president, human resources of Vulcan Materials Company. Originally hired in 1967 as a clerk in the Transportation Department, Mr. Houston held a number of management positions in his long career with Vulcan and in his five-year tenure with Alabama By-Products Corporation before advancing to his current position in 2004. Those positions most recently included director, compensation and benefits.

Mr. Houston earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial relations from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and in 1999 he completed an Advanced Management Program in Human Resources at the University of Michigan.

Mr. Houston is active in several community service organizations. He serves as the chairman for the Alabama Council on Economic Education and is a director for the Metro Birmingham YMCA and for Junior Achievement of Central Alabama.

Ejaz A. Khan , Vice President, Controller and Chief Information Officer

Ejaz Khan is the vice president, controller, and chief information officer of Vulcan Materials Company. Beginning in 1979 as a personnel systems specialist, Mr. Khan has held a number of positions in several of the Company’s divisions during his thirty years with Vulcan.

Mr. Khan has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a master’s degree from Wharton School of Business.

C. Wes Burton, Jr , Vice President and Treasurer

Wes Burton joined Vulcan Materials Company in May 2011 as vice president and treasurer. Prior to joining Vulcan, Mr. Burton was most recently a management consultant with the Enterprise Performance Management Strategy practice group of Accenture LLP, managing director for Marsh USA, Inc. and senior vice president and treasurer at Saks Incorporated.

Mr. Burton began his career with fourteen years of corporate finance experience at two different banks, covering the building products, business services, and retail industry sectors. Mr. Burton earned a B.S. degree in management (business/finance) from Georgia Tech.

David Donaldson , Vice President Governmental and Community Relations

David Donaldson is vice president of governmental and community relations for Vulcan Materials Company. Mr. Donaldson joined Vulcan in 1980 and has served in a variety of public and governmental affairs roles for the company, including service in its former Chemicals Division. He is responsible for the community and governmental relations initiatives of the corporation, as well as the company’s charitable giving and political action committee programs.

Mr. Donaldson is a graduate of the University of the South, with a bachelor’s degree in English Literature and a master’s degree in Public and Private Management from Birmingham-Southern College.

Mr. Donaldson has served as chairman of the Board of Trustees of The Nature Conservancy, Alabama Chapter, and is also on the Board of Directors of the Alabama Humanities Foundation, the Wildlife Habitat Council, The Road Information Program (TRIP), the Public Affairs Research Council of Alabama, Executive Committee, the Alabama Governor’s School Board of Advisors, the Alabama Shakespeare Festival and the Birmingham-Southern College Norton Board of Advisors. He is a graduate of Leadership Birmingham, where he served as president of the Members’ Council, and of Leadership Alabama.

Norman Jetmundsen, Jr. , Vice President and Associate General Counsel

Norman Jetmundsen is the Vice President and Associate General Counsel of Vulcan Materials Company. Mr. Jetmundsen joined Vulcan after a twenty-year career with Bradley, Arant, Rose & White, where he was a partner.

Mr. Jetmundsen earned his undergraduate degree in English literature from the University of the South and has a law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law. He also completed a M. Litt. degree at Magdalen College, Oxford.

Mr. Jetmundsen is a member of the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA), and he serves on the Council of Counsel, as well as the Legal Task Force. He is also a member of the Alabama and American Bar Associations, the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association (ADLA), Defense Research Institute (DRI), International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC), and the Product Liability Advisory Counsel (PLAC).

Jerry F. Perkins, Jr. , Secretary and Assistant General Counsel

Jerry Perkins is the corporate secretary and assistant general counsel for Vulcan Materials Company. Before joining Vulcan in 2002, Mr. Perkins worked as a certified public accountant (CPA) at a global accounting firm and was an attorney with Burr & Forman LLP in Birmingham, Alabama.

Mr. Perkins has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Alabama and received a law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law, where he was a senior editor of the Alabama Law Review.

Mr. Perkins is a board member of two nonprofit organizations, Alabama Appleseed and YouthServe, Inc.

Lindsay L. Sinor , Assistant General Counsel

Lindsay Sinor is Assistant General Counsel for Vulcan Materials Company. Prior to joining Vulcan in 1992, Ms. Sinor was an attorney with Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP in Birmingham, Alabama.

Ms. Sinor has a bachelor’s degree in art history from Hollins College in Roanoke, Virginia and she received her law degree from Fordham University School of Law in New York, New York.

Ms. Sinor is a co-founder of Vulcan’s Women’s Leadership Council and now serves on the Steering Committee for the Vulcan Women’s Network.
